The discipline World literature: Literature and culture of the Antiquity emphasizes individual research and after introductory lectures comprising terminology, facts and historiography, students are required to study and work in groups (on themes like dance arts in the Antiquity, role of women, methods of teaching, motifs). Collaborations with other higher educations are ongoing.
The discipline of History of Hungarian literature (1700-1849) offers each year a different approach (ars poetica, a feminine perspective, travels), focusing also on teaching children how to read and understand primary sources and use confidently reference works and scientific literature. Activities also comprise introduction to scientific research: students are required to write book reviews, participate in conferences. During class, students will examine also new sources presented by their teacher (poetry of S. Pataki Mózes, Lukáts István, correspondence of Ujfalvi Krisztina). Collaborations with the Departments for the study of 18th and 19th century literary history of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences.
The discipline Theatre culture in Transylvania focuses on the comparative analysis of literature and history of drama and performances (drama texts, critical literature, sources, dramaturgy, programs, theatre language). These studies integrate into a broader framework comprising the activity of the “THÉ-Trupp” Egyetemi Irodalmi színpad (Student drama club) and the series of conferences Metamorphoses of drama texts. History of confluence. Collaborations with the Department of German Language and literature of the Babeş-Bolyai University and the Department for drama studies of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences.
The discipline Critical editions comprises a special seminar on text editing (both traditional, as well as digital editions).
